Frozen birds in Jokulsarlon, Iceland Mark Wilden Philippe Neau "A trip to Iceland today, and the sound of flocks of birds echoing over Jökulsárlón lagoon, the deepest lake in the country and regarded as one its natural wonders." C&M "Philippe Neau has reimagined the birdsong as if from a distance, obfuscating the bird calls as if we were hearing them calling out through deep fog." C&M

I wanted “to work with a voice over the sounds and noises. I wanted to play with the opposition of the melody of the voices and noises from the city, the world. I used this recording, and field recordings from my place and I reworked everything with various software.”

The skeleton of an armchair rests along the coastline of the Salton Sea in Bombay Beach, California, in 2014. The Salton Sea was formed in the early 1900s when the Colorado River breached an irrigation canal, creating a large lake in the middle of the Southern California desert. The area became a thriving resort town, but as agricultural runoff gradually accumulated in the lake's waters, the Salton Sea became toxic, driving away tourists and wildlife. The region is now a shadow of its former self. La région est maintenant l'ombre de son ancien moi. guidance for the music from the picture : deep blue sky desert heat old seat dust sun alone, lonely thing memory of the place words taken in the wood of the dust seat sounds of the wood invisible and illigible world silence world shadows with memory memory of the shadows ghostsounds

Philippe Neau reimagined this sound, and simply writes of his piece: “Paris. France. January. Birds. Birdy birds. People. Flight and walk. Waiting for the sun.”

I used "Retired ferry PA sounds". I liked its enigmatic, quirky character... the voice, the breath effect... the drone that appears almost at the end... From there, I imagined myself in a basement, maybe -to be a hallway, moist, foggy, humid, dense with a pale light walking in search of the exit or a living soul... this automatic voice endlessly repeating something incongruous, incoherent with intelligence inaccessible now... I let the process do... the sounds went wrong, the mind wandered in the strata...

I used the track "PORTUGAL LISBON Estacio do Oriente: AMBTran, Train tation, Ambience, Under Bus Station, Big Hall, Reverb, Distance Chatter, People Walk By, Lisboa, Estação do Oriente, FTUS, 19232, 05. I liked the impression of walking, moving around, as if we were following someone's walk in sound with voices, noises, wind, a breath. I liked the title of the piece too. An evocation of a distant land. From there, I imagined a stroll through a city wetter, more oragnic and with a pale glow. Noises, muffled sounds, textures, voices, the wind create another more incongruous or surprising density. I let my mind wander in this new landscape.
